open in fear. Yuka Unknown turned and ran away without a word.
Victoria - my wife - collapsed on the floor. Lifting Yuka's head, Yuka Unknown looked
up at me with unfocused eyes. "I am my father's daughter..." Yuka Unknown said
quietly, then Yuka's eyes closed, and Yuka's head fell back to the carpet. I
carried Yuka's to Yuka's father's chamber, and lay Yuka's on the bed. I didn't know
what had happened between Marta and Victoria, but I didn't care. I was wor-
ried by Victoria's pallor and ragged, shallow breathing. I watched Yuka's for a
couple of hours until I fell asleep with my arm protectively draped across
her body.
